drugs for preventing and treating the cholesterol is Lovastatin or
advicor. This drug is the member of a class named statins. However
the lovastatin is also showing many side effects and it is a well
tolerated drug. The usage of lovastatin may rarely cause myopathy or
rhabdomyolysis and lovastatin will causes unexplained muscle pain
and weakness.
This medicine will not suit for the patient with liver problems. Do
not use this medicine, if you are taking any other medicines like
macrolide antibiotics including clarithomycin and erythromycin, HIV
protease inhibitor including ritovir, itraconazole and ketoconazole.
Some medical conditions will not good for the usage of lovastatin
and it will cause several side effects. You have to avoid this
medicine when you have low blood pressure, serious infection, kidney
problems, diabetes etc.
The usage of lovastatin is showing some allergic reactions like
rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest,
swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue. Other side effects are
chest pain, dark urine, muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, pale
stools; red, swollen, blistered or peeling skin; severe stomach
pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes etc. Always use this medicine
after consulting with a doctor.
